Washing your dog can be easy as long as you are readily prepared. It is important to pick the right dog shampoo to clean your dog with. Keep in mind the type of dog and the skin conditions they may or may not have when choosing a shampoo. Puppies are different then adult dogs. You should always read the label or ask a professional if you are unsure on what products are safe to use. Natural products are usually the safest way to go. They are safe for you, your pet and are Eco-friendly.

When preparing to bath your dog make sure you have all the items you need ready.

You will probably need a few towels, a hair dyer, a brush, a rinsing cup or bucket, and shampoo. Before wetting your dog make sure the water is not too hot or too cold. You can use your elbow or wrist to gage the temperature. Fill the tub with a few inches of water. Use your bucket or cup to thoroughly wet your dog. Lather your dog starting from the head then work your way to the tail. Make sure you keep the water and shampoo away from the eyes and inside of ears. Tearless shampoos are great to use if you want to keep the soap from irritating your dogs eyes.

After lathering your dog it’s time to rinse the shampoo off. With your rinsing bucket or cup start at the head of your dog, covering the eyes and ears, then work your way to the tail. Run your fingers through your dogs fur making sure you don’t leave any shampoo behind. After rinsing be prepared your dog will want to, soap supplies, shake the excess water off. Have a towel ready to dry your dog as much as possible before you take your dog out of the tub. This will prevent them from getting water all over the floor and prevent you from slipping.

Towel dry your dog first the use the hair dyer. be sure to keep the dyer a safe distance from your dogs skin to prevent burning or over drying. Start in the thickest areas first, you may want to use a brush or your hand to help the drying process. If your dog is shedding or is matted you may want to use a de-shedding comb or a De-matt spray. If you want a long lasting scent you can use a cologne spray as well.
